Wine Description

Domaine Bruno Lorenzon 's Mercurey 1er Cru Pièce 13 is designed to capture the soul of Mercurey's terroirs. Born from the meticulous blending of thirteen islets on a single 1er Cru parcel, this red Mercurey captures all the facets of the Pinot Noir that flourishes on the clay-limestone soils emblematic of the Côte Chalonnaise. This unique approach gives this Pièce 13 a richness and depth that are exceptional in Burgundy. The vines, aged between 35 and 50 years, have been cultivated according to a demanding organic viticulture method, with no synthetic inputs for 30 years, and with manual work and high trellising to favor sunshine and grape quality. Winemaking favors whole bunches and precise ageing in oak barrels to reveal the purest expression of the terroir.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Domaine Lorenzon 's emblematic Mercurey 1er Cru Pièce 13 is a perfect illustration of Bruno Lorenzon 's mastery and precision of Mercurey terroir. Its elegant structure and ability to precisely translate the character of the terroir give this cuvée a balanced expression of power and freshness, which in many ways equals the greatest names of the Côte Chalonnaise. Its ageing potential of a good decade will enable it to develop and gain in aromatic complexity and depth. A major Côte Chalonnaise reference, a true masterpiece from Domaine Bruno Lorenzon!

On the nose, the wine reveals an intense, nuanced bouquet, dominated by the red and black fruits typical of Burgundy Pinot Noir, while spicy touches of pepper and clove add freshness. Hints of licorice float on a lightly woody, mineral background that reinforces the depth of the nose.

On the palate, the texture is velvety and generous, with fine tannins providing structure. The juiciness of red and black fruits explodes on the palate, mingling with delicate spiciness and perfectly integrated acidity that brings tension and balance. The finish lingers deliciously with hints of licorice and undergrowth, with a persistence that marks the power and elegance characteristic of Domaine Bruno Lorenzon's Mercurey 1er Cru Pièce 13 cuvées.
