Domaine des Lambrays ' Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Loups is a blend of 3 1er Cru parcels: La Riotte, Le Village and Sorbè. Depending on the vintage, grapes from the young vines of Clos des Lambrays may be added. It's hardly surprising, then, that this cru is of such excellent quality, with a profile almost worthy of a Burgundy Grand Cru, but at a much more affordable price. As with the other plots on the wine estate, the Pinot Noir vines are cultivated using organic methods. Fermentation on indigenous yeasts includes a proportion of whole-bunch grapes, forging a highly appetizing spicy profile. The wine is aged for 15 to 18 months in barrels, some of which are new, to polish the texture without leaving too much of a woody imprint.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The blend of Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Loups du Domaine des Lambrays makes this cuvée very special, and places it among the elite 1er Crus of the Côte de Nuits. Much more accessible in its youth than the Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru or the other Premier Cru cuvées from the wine estate, this wine will still need at least 5 years of cellaring to be fully appreciated.
On the nose, the wine offers an incredible aromatic palette with notes of noble spices, hints of dried tobacco, roasting and beautiful notes of ripe black fruit. This Morey Saint Denis 1er Cru reveals a deep, racy character that will become even more elegant with age.
The palate reflects the nose: powerful, racy and still a little rustic in its youth. There's a singular depth thanks to the blend of three magnificent terroirs. The fine acidity and silky texture of the tannins give it great length on the palate, sublimated by the peppery texture of the whole-bunch grapes.

A complex wine with a fleshy , silky texture. The aromatic expression is fantastic , with floral and black tea notes complementing the juicy red fruit.
