Domaine François Lumpp 's Givry 1er Cru Clos du Cras Long expresses the precision of an exclusive Burgundy terroir, worked with the rigor and consistency that characterize the wine estate. Located to the east of Givry, this small 0.64-hectare parcel looks out at the rising sun from its limestone slopes mixed with fine marl. This terroir produces a Pinot Noir of elegance and depth, which the wine estate cultivates according to its constant principles of reasoned soil management, weed control and respect for natural rhythms.
The grapes are harvested by hand, then meticulously sorted on tables. Winemaking remains sober and measured, faithful to the house style, always using indigenous yeasts. For this Givry 1er Cru Clos du Cras Long, Domaine François Lumpp ages the wine for 12 months in barrels, 70% of which are new, adding volume without altering the expression of this exclusive climate.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Domaine François Lumpp 's Givry 1er Cru Clos du Cras Long stands out for its balance between density and verticality. We find François Lumpp 's signature: a precise gesture, at the service of the terroir, which gives birth to a complete and rigorous Burgundy red. Its depth promises to evolve well, with ageing potential of around 15 years.
The nose opens with deep aromas of ripe red and black fruits. Notes of fine spices, dried flowers and licorice add intensity. A hint of smoke reveals an elegant mineral background.
The palate is full-bodied and concentrated. The body is full-bodied, supported by fine, mellow tannins that give the wine a harmonious foundation. The balance between the intensity of the spices and the suppleness of the fruit remains constant throughout. The mineral persistence on the finish underlines the terroir's imprint, with an impression of straightforwardness characteristic of Clos du Cras Long.
