Domaine François Lumpp 's Givry 1er Cru blanc Crausot is a real Côte Chalonnaise nugget. This white wine from a south-south-east-facing slope embodies all the finesse and depth of Burgundy's great whites. The soil is essentially hard, stony limestone, which imbues the Chardonnay with mineral tension and a precise structure. Domaine François Lumpp manages this small parcel of approximately 0.60 hectares with the same care as its entire vineyard: moderate tillage, hand harvesting and meticulous grape sorting. After whole bunch pressing and fermentation in stainless steel vats, the wine is aged for 12 months in barrels, 20% of which are new, then 4 months in vats before bottling early the following year. This method preserves the brilliance of the fruit while promoting the beautiful aromatic complexity of this particularly sunny terroir.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Domaine François Lumpp 's Givry 1er Cru Crausot combines purity and structure like few other whites. The wine's passage through barrels and then stainless steel vats maintains its clean profile while bringing cohesion to the material. This technical choice reflects the wine estate's determination to preserve the balance between the maturity of the vintage and the mineral clarity of the terroir, without excess fat or woody overbearing. A great white Givry 1er Cru!
Right from the start, Domaine François Lumpp 's Givry 1er Cru Crausot seduces with its expressive, refined bouquet, featuring notes of fresh white fruit and an abundance of delicate white flowers. A creamy, evolved hint suggests ageing in wood, while the minerality of the limestone imparts straightforward, chalky aromas at the back of the glass.
On the palate, the wine is supple, . On the palate, the cuvée is concentrated and ripe, balanced by constant tension. The fruit gains in fullness without losing its precision, supported by a slight fatness resulting from ageing. A hint of spice gives structure to the finish, which lingers on saline and mineral nuances.
