Domaine Arlaud 's Chambolle-Musigny is born in the northern part of the appellation, on the borders of Morey Saint Denis, where Cyprien Arlaud blends grapes from the lieux-dits Les Buissières, Les Herbues, Les Chardannes and Les Gammaires. On these slopes, renowned for their clay-limestone soils typical of Burgundy, the drainage and rooting of the vines contribute to the natural depth and aromatic delicacy of the Pinot Noir, while the advanced age of the vines ensures even ripeness, enhancing the precision of the fruit. A pioneer of organic viticulture and then biodynamic viticulture in the Morey Saint Denis appellation, Cyprien Arlaud ensures exclusively natural care, from the vineyard to the winery. The grapes are harvested by hand, with successive sorting on three tables to retain only the finest berries, which are then completely destemmed. After a pre-fermentation maceration, winemaking is carried out in stainless steel vats using indigenous yeasts, with no external inputs, over a long vatting period of at least 3 weeks. The wine then spends 14 to 18 months in oak barrels, of which only 15% are new.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : If Chambolle is renowned for the delicacy and elegance of its wines, this Chambolle-Musigny from Domaine Arlaud delivers a very pure, racy version of its appellation. The airy body retains real depth. The finesse of the tannins gives the wine the foundation it needs to evolve harmoniously over time. Wait a few years before savoring it to the full!
Domaine Arlaud 's Chambolle Musigny opens with a dazzling bouquet, dominated by notes of red fruit and floral hints of fresh rose and hawthorn. However, this highly refined profile requires generous decanting or ageing potential to reveal its full charm.
The palate is a veritable caress, as the taffeta-like material envelops the palate with its lacy tannins. Refreshing, perfectly balanced tension stretches the flavors of red fruits and fresh flowers, which linger for a long time on the heady finish.
