Jacquesson's Champagne Avize Champ Caïn Grand Cru is made exclusively from grapes grown on 60-year-old Chardonnay vines planted in the Champ Caïn area, itself located in the commune of Avize. The 2013 vintage had a very cold and snowy winter, and spring and early summer remained cold and wet, generating coulure and millerandage and delaying flowering and ripening. The wine was aged for no less than 8 years on lees, and disgorged in April 2022.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The Avize Champ Caïn Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs is in a league of its own. Given the rarity of this champagne, produced in only 11220 bottles, sales are very limited. A very small production to take advantage of!
The nose is discreet, subtle and delicate. The champagne's light effervescence opens our senses and reveals a harmonious, highly floral bouquet. There are notes of acacia, woodruff and a touch of honeysuckle.
The palate is Jacquesson's signature, greedy yet fresh, just the way we like it. Delicate aromas of almond and white fruit. Notes of pear, bergamot and a hint of brioche add to the indulgence. A great champagne wine, invigorating and pure.
