Wine Description
Clos Cibonne’s Tentations rosé cuvée is meant to be an invitation to authentic Provence: a blend of 50% Grenache Noir, 20% Cinsault, 15% Syrah, and 15% Tibouren, it is grown on the clay-marl soils of La Crau and Carqueiranne in the Var region. With this cuvée, the Deforges family has been showcasing Tibouren—a historic and nearly extinct grape variety from Provence—to the world for generations.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Clos Cibonne ’s Tentations rosé is the most accessible and indulgent entry point into the world of Clos Cibonne. Unlike the Tradition range, it does not undergo the wine estate’s characteristic long ageing in oak and is entirely focused on expressing fresh fruit. What sets it apart is the presence of Tibouren, this rare, ancestral variety said to have been Emperor Julius Caesar’s favorite.
On the nose, the bouquet centers on vine peach and citrus—particularly pink pomelo—along with delicate floral notes. A duo of rose and wild strawberry emerges as the wine opens up, revealing plenty of freshness.
On the palate, the wine is light and vibrant, carried by a lemony freshness that caresses the palate and lingers into an elegant finish. This rosé charms with its crisp, easy-drinking character, its finesse, and its perfect balance between fullness and liveliness.
