Wine Description
The Cosse Maisonneuve cuvée Sidérolithe is made from old Cabernet franc vines grown according to biodynamic principles. These vines draw their energy from iron-rich siderolithic clay soils, giving the wine remarkable depth and complexity.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The 60-year-old Cabernet franc vines are planted on iron-rich clay soils known as siderolithic clays. Ageing lasts 20 months in barrels of several wines, bringing subtle aromatic complexity. Sidérolithe can be enjoyed now, but will reveal its full ageing potential after a few years, until 2045. It should be served at a temperature of 16°C, after aeration for 2 to 3 hours in bottle.
The nose is straightforward, revealing aromas of raspberry, cardamom, fern, fresh mint and undergrowth, reflecting the finesse of this cuvée.
On the palate, the wine offers velvety body and impressive depth. An explosion of fresh fruit, such as cherry and wild myrtle, followed by notes of violet, sweet spices and brilliant minerality. The finish is marked by lardy nuances, lending a racy profile to this exceptional wine.
