Long description

Domaine Cosse Maisonneuve is a young wine estate in the South West of France. It was created in 1999 by Matthieu Cosse and Catherine Maisonneuve. They set down roots in the Cahors appellation with the aim of making elegant, gourmet wines.

Matthieu Cosse is an alumnus of Château La Coste in Provence and Catherine Maisonneuve is an alumnus of Château Léoville Las Cases.

Both come from renowned wine estates, and have extensive experience of vine-growing and winemaking.

Today, the wine estate boasts around 17 hectares of vines, with Malbec as the main grape variety, but also some Merlot, Gamay and Cabernet Franc.

From the outset, they wanted to make authentic wines that respected the terroirs of Cahors. So they embarked on biodynamic vi ticulture, which they see as a philosophy of respect for living organisms.

All the wines are produced using massal selections and low yields. Harvesting is done by hand, with several successive sortings. This ensures the best possible grape quality to produce the finest Cahors.

We have several favorites at the Cosse Maisonneuve wine estate, including the cuvée Les Laquets, a pure Malbec made from 40-year-old vines on a limestone plot. The cuvée La Fage comes from a gravelly clay terroir, and is quite expressive when young. And let's not forget the incredible Cuvée La Marguerite, a micro-cuvée that is one of the best Cahors wines on the market, probably the best.

Matthieu Cosse and Catherine Maisonneuve are now regarded as the finest producers of Cahors wine. This is the result of meticulous work at every stage of the winemaking process. The Cosse Maisonneuve wine estate makes great wines.
