Wine Description

Cahors Les Laquets from the Cosse Maisonneuve wine estate is a remarkable vin de terroir. It reflects the methodical work of Matthieu and Catherine, the wine estate's winemakers. Indeed, they are eager to find the best growing methods to reveal the purest expression of Cahors. For this reason, they have long since chosen to cultivate all their vines biodynamically , and in particular this magnificent Malbec.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Matthieu Cosse and Catherine Maisonneuve have produced this cuvée of Cahors Les Laquets with the aim of offering a wine that is both accessible and has great depth when young. In particular, they use very old oak barrels to prepare the wine for oxygenation. Make no mistake, this is still a powerful, racy and concentrated Cahors, but its very austere side has been tamed to make it more drinkable in the early years. It's also a great wine for laying down, which can easily last 5 to 10 years.

On the nose, the bouquet opens with notes of ripe black fruit, blackcurrant, blueberry and prune. There are also hints of smoke and eucalyptus.

The palate is very frank, sanguine and a little rustic on opening. A two-hour decanting is necessary for the first 3-4 years. The material is concentrated, the tannins present but supple and juicy. The finish is an apotheosis of incredible serene freshness.

A wine of admirable length and depth at this price!
