Wine Description
Domaine Alliet 's Chinon L'Huisserie is a wine of character made from the finest gravelly terroirs the Chinon appellation has to offer. The wine is aged for 18 months in oak barrels, of which only 10% are new. A relatively young cuvée, born in 2004 , it comes from the estate's youngest vines, planted on south-facing slopes.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The L'Huisserie cuvée has a rather different profile from the other Chinons produced by Philippe Alliet. It's a wine that's more incisive and energetic when young, and opens up quite easily in the first few years. Yields have been reduced as much as possible to concentrate as much flavor as possible in the grapes. For his best vintages, Philippe hardly reaches 35 hectoliters per hectare, but this is a conscious decision on his part.
On the nose, the wine opens with notes of blackcurrant, verbena and redcurrant jam. A nose that's both fine and expressive, with redoubtable accuracy.
The palate is a jewel of haute couture, revealing lovely tannins that are still a little hard, but at the same time the substance is just sublime, the aromas of a very complex dimension and incredible finesse. The wine's length is formidable, finishing the mouth in beauty.
