Wine Description

Domaine De Montille 's Clos de Vougeotis one of the most prestigious wines produced by this famous wine estate. It is distinguished by the nature of its soil, which is both very clayey and chalky. It was the monks of the Abbey of Cîteaux who discovered in the early 12th century that this terroir produced wines far more complex and profound than the other wines of the appellation.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Domaine De Montille's Grand Cru Clos de Vougeot is the wine that comes closest to the perfection we look for in a great Burgundy. A parcel vinified and aged with particular care for 18 months. There are no words to describe this wine as precisely as tasting will do.

On the nose, the wine opens with notes of violet, blackcurrant, hints of spice and very light woody notes of great elegance. The wine expresses itself much more intensely after 2 hours' oxygenation in a balloon glass.

The palate is full-bodied, the tannins are still a little tight in their youth, but the pleasure is already there. This wine needs to be kept for at least 5 years to fully express the character and authenticity of its terroir.
