Wine Description

Domaine de Montille 's Corton Grand Cru Clos du Roi is a masterful expression of Pinot Noir, embodying the elegance and power of the Côte de Beaune's grand crus. This exceptional wine, from a parcel ideally situated on the south-eastern slope of the Corton hill, reflects the wine estate's ancestral know-how and commitment to environmentally-friendly viticulture.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : "Clos du Roi" is one of the most prestigious climats in the Corton Grand Cru appellation. Domaine de Montille's 0.84 ha parcel is located mid-slope, just above the road separating "Les Bressandes" from "Clos du Roi", benefiting from top-quality clay-limestone soils. This privileged position gives the wine remarkable structure and finesse. The cuvée is made from 100% whole-bunch gra pes . Fermentation takes place mainly in large wooden vats, followed by ageing in 228-liter barrels, 40% of which are new.

The nose is complex and elegant, revealing aromas of fresh red fruit, peony, hemp, as well as spicy and mineral notes.

On the palate, the wine offers a straight, vertical structure, with already silky tannins and a definite elegance. Although accessible now, it will reveal all its finesse after a few years' cellaring.
