Wine Description

Domaine De Montille 'sPuligny Montrachet 1er cru Le Cailleret is an enclosed vineyard just outside the village of Puligny Montrachet, close to the famous Montrachet. The Chardonnay grapes are grown on south-east-facing, very stony, chalky soil. This type of terroir produces wines of great minerality and superb length on the palate. Etienne De Montille uses 228-liter French oak barrels and non-new 600-liter demi-muids for all stages of winemaking.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Le Cailleret is a unique Burgundy climate offering perfect exposure to the terroir's characteristics. It's a Puligny-Montrachet that reveals very floral and mineral notes right from its youth. It can also be laid down for 5 to 6 years, thanks to its terroir of complex limestone.

On the nose, notes of citrus peel, led by lemon and yuzu, mingle brilliantly with hints of acacia and tart berries. An expressive nose, rather atypical for a Puligny Montrachet, but very pleasant.

The palate is straightforward and precise, carried by citrus aromas. A hint of mineral salinity on the finish adds length and structure. Superb !
