Wine Description

The Côte Rôtie Viallière du domaine Clusel Roch is from vines located on the site called Viallière to the north of the appellation Côte Rôtie. The terroir is mainly of ferrous micaschist origin and the vines oriented south-east. This small plot of 0.8 hectares is planted only in massal selection for 30 years. The two-year-old breeding in Bordeaux oak barrels gives a grain of very fine and silky tannins.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The Viallière cuvée of the Clusel Roch estate is a pure Syrah and certainly one of the most beautiful Côte Rôtie on the market. The complexity of this wine comes in particular from the Serine, an ancient variety of Syrah but also work in biodynamics produced for almost 20 years. Only 3000 bottles are produced each year.

In the nose, the wine is high aromatic intensity. We discover notes of white pepper, blackcurrant, hints of cocoa, plum. After a two-hour carafage, the wine reveals itself a little more and opens on floral and mineral touches.

The mouth is frank and powerful the attack. It evolves throughout the tasting and gains in elegance and silky. On the aromatic level, it's already complex, the tannins are still a little firm but they relax over time.
