Domaine de Terrebrune 's Cuvée Cap Horn navigates between the heritage of Bandol rosés and the audacity of offering a cuvée that assumes its depth without renouncing freshness. In the foothills of Ollioules, between sea and rock, vines rooted in Triassic limestone look out over the Mediterranean. It is here that Reynal Delille continues the work of his father Georges, faithful to organic viticulture and an artisanal approach, where every choice, from the lunar calendar to cellar gestures, is dictated by observation and precision. Cap Horn is not a wine for show. It's a gourmet rosé, able to stand the test of time and tell the story of its origins, unfiltered. A blend of Mourvèdre, Grenache and Cinsault, this rosé is made from grapes pressed directly after harvest, to extract a clear, pure juice. Fermentation then takes place slowly, in stainless steel tanks, to preserve all the freshness and aromatic finesse. No wood ageing is used, in order to preserve the clarity of the fruit and the limestone terroir. The wine seeks neither effect nor aromatic overkill: it aims for precision.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : In Cap Horn, Mourvèdre provides the framework, but it's the balance between the three grape varieties that builds the harmony. This is a demanding rosé, with a remarkable saline sparkle that goes well beyond the summer range. A structured, elegant wine that assumes its origin and depth.
On the nose, the wine opens with characteristic notes of redcurrant and wild strawberry, enriched by iodine nuances and a hint of fresh citrus. The saline minerality is discreetly hinted at, giving way to a richer background. The whole is subtle, straightforward, driven by stone rather than fruit.
On the palate, the attack is straightforward, carried by crystalline acidity. The fruit is immediate but not exuberant, structured by a fine, savory body and subtle hints of white pepper. The finish and aromatic persistence anchor this wine in the limestone minerality of its terroir, with notes of iodine and refreshing salinity. A rosé that invites you to the table, not just as an aperitif.
