The Barolo Via Nuova of the domain E. Pira & Figli is a result of a very particular plot located close to the centre of Barolo. Its name comes from the road taken during the last century that connected Barolo novello. From this road there is only one path left in the middle of the vineyards that the inhabitants walk. This wine was recently incorporated into the name Barolo (2010). It is distinguished by the fineness of its texture and the extreme complexity of its aromatics.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The last born of the name Barolo is certainly one of the largest products in the Piedmont with the famous Cannubi Park. This Barolo Via Nuova surprises by its extremely delicate material and the subtlety of its aromatics. On the 2016 vintage, he even received the highest distinction in Italy: 100/100 to the Vinous guide.
In the nose, wine transports us to several different worlds. For starters, he reveals notes of petal of roses, blueberry, cardamom and a mint. Then, it is the turn of the Empyreumatic notes to highlight itself with beautiful touches smoked and cocoa.
The mouth is in the image of the nose, of a fine and silky texture as you rarely have the opportunity to taste. The aromatics are numerous and reveal themselves with great intensity. Of course, it is still a very young wine that would deserve a few years before being tasted.
