Wine Description

Domaine Élodie Roy 's Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Beaune blanc embodies the essence of Burgundian freshness. On a clay-limestone plateau near Maranges, Burgundy, 30-year-old Chardonnay vines slowly blossom, bathed by a southern exposure that favors superb ripeness and contrasts with the freshness of the altitude. After more than ten years with the renowned Domaine Anne Gros in Vosne-Romanée, Côte de Nuits, Elodie Roy took over the family vineyards in 2018 with the desire to reveal all the precision of the Beaune terroir. The grapes are aged in non-new barrels, a choice that lets their purity and energy express themselves, while faithfully translating the unique personality of this Hautes Côtes de Beaune parcel.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Domaine Elodie Roy 's Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Beaune blanc stands out for its balance and freshness. This pure Chardonnay reveals a rather fresh, crystalline profile, and offers a modern take on the Côte de Beaune wine landscape. It easily rivals cuvées from the greatest Burgundy appellations, revealing a finesse and complexity that are surprising in their authenticity. Superb value for money, an invitation to rediscover the Hautes Côtes de Beaune through Élodie Roy's personal and passionate vision.

On the nose, the wine expresses itself with great purity on notes of pear, acacia honey and yellow lemon. Hints of coriander, fresh almond and hawthorn add an intoxicating vegetal freshness.

The palate is full-bodied, greedy and, once again, fresh. The silky texture of barrel ageing gives this Chardonnay a relief from which aromas of white fruit, honey and fresh almond emerge with admirable precision. Between roundness and tension, the finish leaves the palate with the vibrant impression of a superb wine of balance, easily equaling the great appellations of the Côte de Beaune.
