Wine Description
Domaine Élodie Roy 's Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Beaune rouge is a promise of freshness and subtlety among Burgundy wines. This pure Pinot Noir, emblematic of the revival of Beaune 's high-altitude appellations, comes from old vines perched between 350 and 450 meters above sea level near Maranges. The clay-limestone soils combined with southeast exposure and cool altitude conditions give the grapes balanced ripeness, sculpting a vibrant signature typical of Hautes Côtes de Beaune. By taking over the family plots in 2018, Elodie Roy wanted to set the wine estate on a course of renewal, combining respect for terroir and precise expression of fruit, without resorting to excessive technical practices. Winemaking follows a natural philosophy dear to this young winemaker: hand harvesting, spontaneous fermentation without inputs and ageing for 10 to 12 months in non-new barrels.
Philippe Mischler sommelier at Mundovin : Domaine Élodie Roy 's Bourgogne Hautes Côtes de Beaune rouge embodies the spirit of Burgundy wines born at altitude. This Pinot Noir displays a natural elegance that is both accessible today and promising for many years to come. Its airy, refined personality, faithful to Elodie Roy's precise, chiselled style, places it among the excellent value for enjoyment wines in the Beaune landscape.
On opening, the nose is enlivened by frank aromas of fresh cherry, redcurrant and peony. A framework of undergrowth adds depth to the bouquet, while light spicy notes enhance the overall finesse.
On the palate, the balance is remarkable: the wine is juicy and airy, with invigorating mineral tension and fine, structuring tannins. The body condenses the crispness of the fruit and the freshness of this high-altitude terroir into a lively, digestible profile that's already seductive. The finish is a harmonious blend of red fruits and spices, which will continue to develop over the coming years.
