Wine Description

Domaine François Lumpp 's Givry 1er Cru Petit Marole is another Côte Chalonnaise rarity. This exclusive 0.76-hectare parcel produces a Pinot Noir de Bourgogne of rare precision. The east-south-east orientation, the altitude of around 250 meters and the limestone soils mixed with fine marl in places combine to deliver a wine of firmness and tension, as racy as it is fresh. Hand-harvested and totally de-stemmed, the grapes undergo pre-fermentation cold maceration before undergoing natural winemaking with indigenous yeasts. Ageing for 12 months in barrels, 70% of which are new, refines texture and balances structure.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The Givry 1er Cru rouge Petit Marole from Domaine François Lumpp illustrates the consistency of the house style. This cuvée demonstrates the mastery of an emblematic southern Burgundy wine estate in its quest for precision and emotion. Forget a few years in the cellar for a phenomenal tasting experience. A great cuvée that will go a long way!

The nose opens with precise red fruit blending fresh cherry and ripe raspberry, and elegant floral notes of peony and violet. A touch of fine spices and undergrowth emerge gradually, creating an impression of natural elegance that beckons to be savored.

On the palate, François Lumpp 's 1er Cru rouge Petit Marole expresses itself with ease on ripe, full-bodied fruit. The elegance of the material envelops the palate with extreme silkiness. The precise tannic structure propels the energy and freshness of the terroir to a finish that lingers with a sensation of purity that sums up the spirit of the Petit Marole terroir.
