Wine Description

The Gauby family's Cuvée Calcinaires is a superb introduction to the wine estate's style. It combines subtle aromatic complexity, richness and density. It's also a rather original cuvée, thanks to the choice of blend made by Gérard Gauby in the 1980s. Macabeu, Grenache blanc, Vermentino and Chardonnay bring a unique character to this wine. The terroir is all the more clearly defined thanks to the work carried out in the vineyard and during winemaking by Lionel Gauby, the current winemaker. Equally concerned with preserving the maximum freshness in his wines, Lionel Gauby chooses to harvest his grapes earlier and advocates very low-intervention winemaking.

The wine is aged in very old foudres for around 7 months, giving it flesh and expression.

Philippe Mischler sommelier at mundovin : I always look forward to tasting wines from the Gauby wine estate. Since Gérard Gauby's son Lionel took over the wine estate. The wines have become more supple, easy-drinking and a little more refined.

On the nose, the wine reveals an impressive aromatic palette, with a very fresh register. Notes of green apple, dried herbs, pineapple and a hint of orange blossom.

The palate is as fresh as the nose, with notes of citron and a hint of menthol. The acid structure is perfectly structured and blends elegantly with the intense body. A spontaneous pleasure wine to share with friends and family. You'll surprise more than one.
