Domaine Jean-François Ganevat 's Pinot Noir "Colline des Dames" is a no-sulfur-added wine made with grapes sourced from friends in Alsace. The cuvée is vinified in whole bunches in old oak tuns for 9 months. The wine is not at all marked by wood, but acclimatizes delicately to oxygen during ageing.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : with this "Colline des Dames" cuvée, Jean-François Ganevat insists that the wine expresses its terroir of clay-limestone soils and does not hide behind ageing or style. The result is impressive depth and deliciousness. A wine of character, both warm and dynamic, a Pinot Noir out of the ordinary, as Fanfan knows so well.
The nose expresses intense notes of black fruits such as cherry and blackberry. But it also offers fine aniseed notes, a hint of cinnamon and a delicate smoky touch.
The palate is full-bodied, with substantial substance and juicy tannins. The palate is a true reflection of the sun-drenched Frauenberg terroir. Spicy flavors give an oriental perfume, but also notes of ripe black fruit. A wine of remarkable balance and extraordinary depth.
