The Roc des Anges cuvée Imalaya is the rarest plot-based cuvée on the wine estate. The Carignan Gris vines are located in the Pyrenees at an altitude of 500 meters on the western edge of Roussillon.
This historic grape variety was planted in 1962 on Tarerach granite at 500 meters altitude, giving the wine an extraordinary mineral intensity.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Marjorie and Stéphane Gallet of the Roc des Anges wine estate have restored Carignan Gris to its former glory with this Imalaya cuvée. It's taken a long time to bring wine back to this vineyard, which has been marked by conventional viticulture. Today, however, it has regained all its splendor and expresses the full complexity of its terroir.
On the nose, the wine offers an intense mineral complexity between iodine notes. There are hints of jasmine, fennel and a touch of gentian and eucalyptus. A fresh, energetic wine.
The palate is remarkably precise and refined . The aromas tend towards tonic notes of yellow lemon, kiwi and william's pear. The strength of this wine lies above all in its dynamism and drinkability, a superb illustration of the work of Marjorie and Stéphane Gallet.
