Long description

Domaine Le Roc des Anges is a young Roussillon wine estate, founded in 2001 by Marjorie Gallet, a woman who became a winemaker out of passion. She began by training with the Côte Rôtie's greatest winemakers, such as Cuilleron and Pierre Gaillard. Then she trained with the king of Roussillon at the time: Gérard Gauby. She finally decided to settle in a little corner of the Catalan coast, in the tiny village of Montner. She was joined in 2008 by her husband, also from the world of wine, who was formerly the steward of the famous Mas Amiel wine estate. This was the beginning of a wonderful story, and the Le Roc des Anges wine estate began to make a name for itself.

The development of the wine estate is mainly due to the promotion of local grape varieties such as Carignan Blanc, Grenache Gris and Macabeu for the whites. For the reds, Carignan Rouge, Grenache Noir and Serine.

Marjorie Gallet and her husband Stéphane distinguish themselves from other winemakers by the finesse of their red and white wines. They are also keen to emphasize the respect for nature that is so dear to them. That's why they quickly decided to convert to organic farming and work according to biodynamic principles.

The result is astonishing: the work still brings vitality to their poor soils, especially for the old vines which are an integral part of the wine estate (50% are over 70 years old).

When it comes to winemaking, the winemaking couple have the same vision: very little intervention, little new wood and, above all, a quest for balance. The use of demi muids is a matter of course to obtain the best possible result between freshness and the revelation of terroir. Each parcel is precisely defined and vinified separately to obtain the most coherent range possible.

Finesse, elegance and precision are the words that best describe the wines of Le Roc des Anges wine estate.
