One of the Pope's best castleneuf!

Old Donjon estate is a family which has been in existence for many generations and which has held its position both in terms of quality and price. The Michel family has been producing wine since the 1970s. Before that, they only sold grapes in bulk. Today, it is an area that is the finest and elegant wines of all the appellation Châteauneuf du Pape.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Personally, I do not understand why this area is no more reputed than that. The wines of Old Donjon are great! We find in this wine everything we like abouta grand castleneuf of the pope. At the same time fine, elegant, silky, it develops very complex aromatics as long as we're a little patient.

My first experience with this wine was a real tasteful success. Visually not much to say, the color is typical of a Castleneuf, dark and intense. But where he really stands out from the others it's by the texture and fineness of its tannins.

In the nose, it is discreet when opening. After a few hours of carafe, the wine reveals itself completely and develops an impressive aromatic palette (cinnamon, dried tomato, plum, strawberry). A superb nose, a wine that absolutely needs to be oxygenated in its youth.

In the mouth, the attack is delicate and caressing matter. At the aromatic level, it is a wine that reveals notes of black fruits (case, ripe) and a slightly smoothed side. Livestock is very controlled. The winemaker did everything he could to keep the wood from marking its wine.
