Wine Description
Pommard "Les Cras " from the Michel Bouzereau wine estateis a wine of character that perfectly embodies the terroir of Pommard. Situated on a gently sloping south-facing hillside, this parcel lies between two premier crus, giving it an almost "premier cru" dimension. Its name, "Cras", comes from the word etymologically linked to a "stony hillside", evoking the red clay soils rich in pebbles and limestone scree. This unique terroir adds structure and minerality, giving the wine a more racy, intense profile.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The wine is aged for a year in oak barrels, 25% of which are new, and then rests for a further two to four months in vats before bottling. This careful ageing preserves the wine's fruity aromas, while adding subtle touches of woodiness for depth and refinement.
The bouquet is marked by notes of ripe red and black berries accompanied by aromas of undergrowth, licorice and pepper, with the occasional hint of violet.
On the palate, this Pommard is ample and generous, supported by a fine tannic structure and notable elegance. The stony minerality typical of the soil is reflected in a fine, precise structure, offering impressive length and an elegantly fruity, spicy finish.
