Wine Description

The Rully 1er cru Grésigny from Paul & Marie Jacqueson is the gold standard of the appellation. Over the generations, the Jacqueson wine estate has built up an exceptional viticultural legacy in Rully’s finest climats. Grésigny is a 0.80-hectare plot of very old Chardonnay vines planted in 1950, on a robust, dry terroir with very stony brown soils and a substrate of white marl and limestone. This exclusive cuvée is designed to age for at least a dozen years.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: The Rully 1er cru Grésigny from Paul & Marie Jacqueson is more refined and more focused than the wine estate’s other 1er crus; it is a true treasure that combines the character of a great terroir with an equally sensual texture. In a blind tasting, one might mistake it for a Puligny-Montrachet.

Peach and apricot dominate upon opening, before decanting reveals aromas of verbena and subtle brioche notes. A bouquet of great finesse that unfolds slowly.

The attack is full-bodied, quickly balanced by remarkable acidity and mineral notes. Generous and juicy, it offers a beautiful balance between fruit concentration and minerality, with a lingering, elegant finish.
