Wine Description

Domaine de Terrebrune’s Bandol Rouge stands out as one of the purest and most authentic expressions of Mourvèdre in Bandol, a grape variety that reigns supreme here with its characteristic nobility. The wine estate, located in the town of Ollioules overlooking the Mediterranean, cultivates its vines on terraced slopes on an extremely rare Triassic geological terroir, where limestone gravel mingles with the brown clay that gave the property its name. This patient and discreet philosophy, inherited from the Delille family, shapes a wine of character, both powerful and refined.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: The Bandol Rouge from Domaine de Terrebrune embodies the understated elegance unique to the distinctive terroir of Ollioules. This wine is a benchmark for collectors, capable of aging for decades while retaining the natural freshness that sets Terrebrune apart from the rest of the appellation.

The nose is deep and complex, dominated by slightly crushed black fruits, evoking blackberries and ripe blackcurrants. Notes of vanilla envelop this intense fruitiness, while a hint of anise and licorice adds a characteristic spicy touch—the aromatic signature of a well-crafted Mourvèdre.

On the palate, the wine is dense and structured, supported by fine, silky, and well-integrated tannins—the result of patient and precise ageing. Subtle oak supports the wine without ever overpowering it, while a light, savory bitterness runs through the finish, giving it remarkable length and promising excellent aging potential.
