Wine Description
The Le Jardin Rouge cuvée from the Henri Milan wine estate is a refined, authentic expression of Provencal terroir, located in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, at the foot of the Alpilles mountains. Classified as a Vin de France, this cuvée embodies the wine estate's commitment to natural, environmentally-friendly viticulture. The Henri Milan wine estate, founded in 1955, is renowned for its biodynamic and natural approach to viticulture. Since 1986, Henri Milan, accompanied by his son Théo and his wife Nathalie, has continued this tradition, making wines without chemicals, additives, commercial yeasts or, in some cases, added sulfur.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: The Le Jardin Rouge cuvée is mainly made from the Merlot grape variety, which expresses itself magnificently on the wine estate's clay-limestone soils. Depending on the vintage, it may be complemented by traditional grape varieties such as Grenache, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Mourvèdre.
The nose opens intensely with notes of ripe red berries and wild strawberries, quickly joined by darker nuances of blackberry and black plum, followed by subtle touches of truffle, fine leather and undergrowth. Aeration reveals greedy notes of mocha, cocoa beans and a hint of garrigue, typical of Provence wines.
On the palate, the attack is supple and velvety, carried by an elegant body and fine concentration. The perfectly blended tannins add structure without ever weighing the wine down. The wine unfurls a tasty, fresh and balanced framework, marked by great drinkability and remarkable aromatic depth. The long, persistent finish prolongs sensations with notes of candied black fruit, sweet spices and a salivating touch of licorice and damp earth.
