Wine Description

Clos Milan is a red wine from Provence produced by Domaine Henri Milan. Théophile Milan, Henri's son, has gradually taken over this legendary parcel of Quaternary alluvial debris, sand and gravel.

After more than 10 years of waiting, the last vintage dating from 2009, the vines are finally ready to give their best, as part of them have been replanted. Ageing remains the same, with 24 months in barrels of several wines and a homeopathic dose of sulfur at bottling.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The Clos Milan cuvée is an emblematic wine of Provence, which for me is one of the finest natural wines of the region, and even one of the finest red wines of Provence along with the Domaine de Trevallon and the wines of Dominique Hauvette. It has incredible cellaring potential, easily keeping for 20 years. Its profile is authentic, gourmand and juicy, with extraordinary drinkability. Only 4460 bottles were produced for this 2018 vintage.

On the nose, the wine is intense and precise. Notes of black olives, gingerbread, garrigue and a touch of balsamic mark the wine with a very Provencal imprint.

The palate is dense, the tannins present but already silky. The wine reveals notes of blackcurrant and cooked prune. There's a hint of smoke and the balsamic note typical of Clos Milan.

A great wine that will reveal itself perfectly after 10 years of cellaring.
