Wine Description

Thibaud Boudignon 's Savennières Clos Devant Le Jeu is a new parcel-based cuvée from schist, sand and sandstone soils, where the Chenin grape develops a deep, sensual style. A future Loire great!

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : With Clos Devant Le Jeu, Thibaud Boudignon delivers a new Savennières cuvée that's already impressive in its mastery, driven by a dense terroir where grey schist gives the grape remarkable depth and foundation. More full-bodied in expression than Clos de Frémine, it nevertheless retains that precision of line typical of the great Chenins de lieu signed Boudignon.

The nose is complex from the outset, with clean notes of white fruit, chard apple and apricot jam. As the wine airs, it releases its mineral framework with accents of warm stone, flint and invigorating maritime notes, which exacerbate the presence of sweet spices at the back of the glass.

On the palate, the volume of the material immediately coats the palate with its fruity sensuality. Ripe acidity structures the intense flavors of fruit coulis and fine spices, while the stony, almost smoky accents of the terroir exalt the taste buds on the extraordinarily saline, sapid finish.
