The Domaine de la Tournelle is located in the Jura and was founded in 1991 by two passionate winemakers, Evelyne and PascalClairet. It is an estate that lives up to its reputation and ranks among the Jura’s greatest winemakers. It must be said that their thoughtful cultivation methods, which respect their terroirs, can only yield excellent results in the glass. In fact, all 7 hectares of the estate have been certified fororganic wine productionsince 2010. No chemicals are used in the vineyard; only manual labor and a few plants are employed to tend the vines when necessary.

The vines are pruned very short using single and double Guyot methods to limit yields and thus ensure greater concentration in the grapes. Yields rarely reach 35 hectoliters per hectare, even for the most “easy-to-grow” cuvées.

As for winemaking, Domaine de la Tournelle uses gentle, slow pressing, very often with whole clusters. The use of sulfur is kept to an absolute minimum and is sometimes not necessary at all, depending on the vintage and cuvée. All aging takes place in barrels, never new ones, in order to preserve the full authenticity of theArbois terroir.

This is an estate we admire not only for the quality of its wines but also for its consistent quality.

The cuvées we are pleased to present to you are Terre de Gryphées, a Chardonnay grown on very clayey and marly soils; and Fleur de Savagnin, a Savagnin cuvée made with top-up (ouillé) and no added sulfur, aged for 18 months in used barrels. “Ambre de Savagnin,” a “voile” wine of rare complexity. Its famous “Vin Jaune,” which ranks among the very best in its category. And its splendid “Trousseau des Corvées,” grown on soil composed of gravel and gray marl.
