The Worldly Saint John of the Gate of the Cellier de la Baraterie is the pride of the young...
Cellier de la Baraterie is a young wine estate launched by Julien Viana, which released its first vintage in 2014. The vineyards are located in the village of Cruet on the sunny right bank of the Isère between Albertville and Chambéry.
This Savoy vineyard has been recognized by UNESCO for the beauty and uniqueness of its terroir. Several fortresses have been built in this area, including the Château de Verdun.
Julien Viana cultivates his entire vineyard in compliance withorganic farming specifications, and uses mineral and plant-based materials to treat his vines.
He now owns 10 hectares of vines on beautiful terroirs, and has planted many local grape varieties. The wines are very seductive, pure and easily digestible.
Savoie is fortunate to see the emergence of wine estates such as Cellier de la Baraterie, giving this all-too-frequently forgotten vineyard its letters of nobility.
The range created by Julien Viana is very harmonious and coherent. The wines are easy to open, whether it's the Roussette de Savoie, also known as Altesse, or the Gamay Montassoulaz, a crisp, juicy wine. The cuvée Paroxysme is an atypical creation made from Gamay, Pinot Noir and Mondeuse, vinified in such a way that the wine is light and delicious. Mondeuse Saint Jean de la Porte is a more serious wine, a little austere in its youth, but after a few years in bottle, it becomes a very interesting wine.
A young wine estate to discover without further delay.
