Petit Roy

Domaine Petit Roy is a very young wine estate born in 2017 in Chorey les Beaune. Seiichi Wang, a young winemaker of Chinese origin, settled inBurgundy with the aim of making great wines. A lifelong Burgundy wine enthusiast, he cut his teeth at the Simon Bize wine estate, Jacques Frederic Mugnier, Armand Rousseau and Anne-Claude Leflaive during his lifetime.

Since his arrival, Seiichi Wang has been the talk of the town, as he didn't need much time to adapt. He immediately produced top-class wines. Today, he has just 2.10 hectares of vines, but intends to expand his wine estate as the years go by.

All his vines are worked biodynamically , just as his peers taught him. His red wines are all harvested in whole bunches to preserve concentration and bring out the best tannins. The cuvée L'Orme is a fine introduction to the wine estate's style. It's a wine that's both greedy and dense, with great finesse. It's a simple Burgundy appellation that deserves to be on a par with Chorey les Beaune.

As for his whites, he has chosen to moderate barrel ageing to bring out the full expression of his terroir, as in the sublime Saint Romain La Perrière, which reveals an aromatic richness and depth rare in this appellation.

The Petit Roy wine estate is one to watch closely, as its wines are already exceptionally precise. It would be no surprise to find it in the upper echelons of Burgundy wines in the years to come.
