Vincent Gross

Located in the heart of Alsace, in the charming village of Gueberschwihr near Colmar, Domaine Gross is a family-run wine estate that has embodied excellence and tradition since it was founded in the 1950s. Founded by Louis Gross, a former blacksmith with a passion for viticulture, the wine estate initially covered 2.5 hectares. Today, under the management of Rémy and Vincent Gross, the founder's son and grandson respectively, the vineyard covers 10 hectares cultivated according to the rigorous principles of biodynamic viticulture.

The Gross wine estate benefits from a remarkable terroir, notably the prestigious Grand Cru Goldert, characterized by marl-limestone soils rich in oolitic limestone. These unique geological conditions give the wines a distinctive minerality and notable aromatic complexity.

Committed to environmentally-friendly viticulture, the wine estate adopts certified biodynamic practices. Work in the vineyard is carried out by hand, including short winter pruning to limit yields and enhance the aromatic concentration of the grapes. Biodynamic preparations, such as MT compost and preparations 500 and 501, are used to enrich the soil and enhance the vitality of the vines.

Winemaking at the Gross wine estate is characterized by its natural, artisanal approach. The hand-picked grapes are carefully sorted before prolonged maceration, sometimes up to 28 days, to ensure optimal extraction of aromas. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts, without the addition of sulfites, and ageing takes place in foudres for 18 months, without filtration, to preserve the integrity and purity of the wine.

The Gross wine estate offers a range of wines reflecting the diversity and richness of the Alsace terroir. Among the emblematic cuvées is "Gold R", a blend of Riesling, Muscat and Gewurztraminer from the Goldert Grand Cru, offering a luminous golden color and an intense aromatic palette blending spices and ripe fruit.

The wine estate has also distinguished itself in the production of orange wines, such as "Rhapsodie", made from riesling, muscat, sylvaner and gewurztraminer grapes macerated on skins, revealing complex notes and a delicate tannic structure. Last but not least, our "Crémant Louis", a tribute to our founder, illuminates us with its fine bubbles and brioche, floral and slightly honeyed notes. It brilliantly combines elegance and character. This crémant brut nature is produced without dosage.
