Long description
Catherine Riss is a young winemaker from Alsace who started out on a rather classic path. She began with a BTS in viticulture in Beaune, then went on to perfect her oenology skills in Dijon. Finally, she decided to do an internship with Jean Louis Trapet in Burgundy, one of the best winemakers on the Côte de Nuits. It was then that she developed a taste for wine, and Pinot Noir in particular.
Other experiences followed, including a stint at Chapoutier. This gave her an insight into how the wine market works.
Catherine Riss is an enthusiastic woman, and she embarked on the adventure of creating her own wine estate in 2012. Little by little, with the invaluable help of Lucas Rieffel and Antoine Kreydenweiss, she began to make a name for herself. Today, she has 3.5 hectares of vines, whichshe hopes to gradually certify as organic.
Catherine Riss's white wines come from very different terroirs. The Riesling de Grès or de Force comes from vines planted on sandstone soil on the high slopes of Reichsfeld. The Dessous de Table cuvée is a subtle blend of Auxerrois and Sylvaner aged in Burgundy barrels.
Our red wines have also made a major contribution to the success of the wine estate. These include the cuvée Empreinte and the incredible cuvée "T'as pas du Schiste". Digestible Pinot Noirs of great finesse.
