Zind Humbrecht's Pinot Gris Grand Cru Rangen de Thann is one of Alsace's southernmost vineyard wines. It is a dry wine. The slope is vertiginous, reaching up to 90%. The vines are cultivated on terraces at an altitude of 500 meters. Rangen has a very singular terroir, composed mainly of volcanic rock. Its identity already appears in writings dating back to the 17th century.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Pinot Gris Grand Cru Rangen de Thann is one of Alsace's finest wines for several reasons. The first is the yield limit set by the appellation, which results in a wine that is both concentrated and highly complex. The second reason is the long-proven biodynamic viticulture method, which Olivier Humbrecht uses with great precision.

On the nose, the wine opens with notes of hazelnut, yellow peach, apricot and pear. Spices also swirl between gray pepper, nutmeg and caraway. The nose is incredibly complex, evolving as the tasting progresses.

The palate has an extraordinary mineral intensity. Gourmet evocations of roasted mango, spiced orange and saline acidity give this Pinot Gris Grand Cru phenomenal staying power and length.
