Wine Description

The Mercurey 1er cru Champs Martin from the Paul et Marie Jacqueson wine estate is one of the most sought-after terroirs in this appellation. And with good reason, it represents the excellence of Mercurey in the eyes of the most discerning wine lovers. It's a wine that often stands out ahead of many other wines from more prestigious Côte de Beaune appellations. Its balance and precision make it one of the most complete red wines of the Côte Chalonnaise.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The Premier Cru Champs Martin in the Mercurey appellation is a magnificent Pinot Noir from clay-limestone terroirs. These are young vines replanted in 2006 by the Jacqueson family. The wine is aged in barrels for 12 months, 25% of which are new.

A true masterpiece that must be cellared for at least 4 to 6 years.

On the nose, the wine opens with notes of wild strawberry, blackcurrant and a hint of chocolate. After oxygenation, the wine reveals spicier, smokier notes.

On the palate, the wine's texture is silky and ample. The acidic, mineral framework carries the wine with verticality and length. The tannins are still imposing, but will soon soften after a few years. The finish is insanely complex, with a depth almost unmatched in Mercurey.
