Montagny 1er Cru Mont Laurent 2021 Bruno Lorenzon | Burgundy

Since 2018, the Bruno Lorenzon wine estate 's collection of crus has been enriched by an additional jewel: Montagny 1er Cru Mont Laurent, an exceptional two-hectare monopole located in the northern part of the Montagny appellation, in the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise. This unique terroir, perched on a hilltop overlooking the village of Buxy, enjoys an ideal eastern exposure, allowing the vines to capture the first light of day and benefit from optimal sunshine.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : This remarkable climate is based on a rich clay-limestone substratum, complemented by Kimmeridgian marls similar to those found in the great terroirs of Chablis. The 40 years of age of the vines, combined with strictly limited yields, give this cuvée a depth and purity that place it among the appellation's benchmarks. Bruno Lorenzon, an unsurpassed perfectionist, cultivates these parcels with meticulous care: high planting density, organic viticulture, total absence of synthetic inputs and meticulous manual labor.

The aromatic bouquet is remarkably deep, revealing a perfect harmony of floral freshness, fruity greed and minerality. Upon opening, airy notes of white flowers such as acacia, lime blossom and honeysuckle take center stage, accompanied by a hint of menthol that brings freshness and lightness.

The attack on the palate is strikingly fine, with a silky texture and a chiselled mineral framework that structures the whole. The body is full and caressing, carried by a vibrant freshness. Stone fruit flavors of apricot and vine peach, Reinette apple and Conference pear mingle with a lemony acidity that energizes the palate. More complex nuances reveal themselves as the tasting progresses: grapefruit and tangerine zest, smoky, peppery notes, a hint of nutmeg and a delicate touch of brioche.
