In the heart of the Côte Chalonnaise, Domaine de Villaine 's Rully 1er Cru Raclot is located on one of the appellation's most promising terroirs. Planted on very stony limestone soils at the heart of the hillside, the Chardonnay vines here enjoy ideal exposure to produce pure, straightforward, deep wines. This highly precise wine highlights the uniqueness of its rather precocious climate, which is rigorously and respectfully cultivated organically by the wine estate.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: With this Rully 1er Cru Raclot, Domaine de Villaine, the undisputed benchmark in Côte Chalonnaise, has produced a Chardonnay that is both serious and ambitious. Its unctuous density, straightforward body and natural balance bring it closer in spirit to certain Côte de Beaune crus. It has a real personality, taut, racy, almost austere in its youth, but with notorious ageing potential.

The nose opens with a beautiful intensity of exotic fruit and lime zest. Evolving notes of warm brioche and flint combine with a light woodiness. The wine is harmonious and elegant, and already shows the restrained ripeness typical of this limestone terroir with its high minerality.

On the palate, this wine impresses with its structure, tension and remarkable mineral sapidity. The texture is unctuous, with an exotic framework that persists right through to the deliciously saline finish. A great white wine from the Côte Chalonnaise, precise, lively and gastronomic, to be kept for 5 to 10 years to express its full complexity.
