Domaine de Villaine 's Rully 1er Cru Cloux is a red wine from one of the appellation's most outstanding climats. Situated below the Raclot and Rabourcé 1er crus, and cultivated on a steep east-south-east slope, this terroir offers ideal conditions for the expression of Pinot Noir. Domaine de Villaine, a pioneer of organic viticulture in Burgundy since 1986, produces a pure red wine that combines freshness, complexity and elegance.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: This red Rully 1er cru Cloux from Domaine de Villaine is a pure expression of southern Burgundy Pinot Noir. It combines fresh fruitiness with an elegant tannic structure, offering a vibrant wine that is both deep and refined. To be enjoyed now after light aeration, or cellared for harmonious evolution over the next 5 to 10 years.
On opening, the nose reveals intense aromas of fresh red fruits such as raspberry and redcurrant. Black pepper and a hint of camphor enhance the whole. With aeration, deeper nuances of undergrowth and minerality emerge, testifying to the richness of the terroir.
On the palate, the wine's silky texture, well-integrated acidity and fine tannins give it great length. Fruity aromatic persistence is prolonged by a woody minerality on the finish. The whole is vibrant, balanced and irresistible. An incredibly refined tasting, where pure fruitiness is carried by silky minerality. Simply superb.
