Domaine de Villaine 's white Rully 1er Cru Cloux rubs shoulders with its red namesake on one of the appellation's most remarkable climates. Situated beneath the Raclot and Rabourcé 1er crus, and organically cultivated on a steep east-south-east slope, this terroir offers ideal conditions for the slow, even ripening of Chardonnay. The clay-limestone soil produces a precise white wine that expresses the pure, unpretentious style of Domaine de Villaine.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: This cuvée of Rully 1er Cru Cloux blanc from Domaine de Villaine is seductive in its clarity and brilliance. It's a wine built on straightforwardness, gaining in finesse as it opens up. Its cellaring potential is remarkable over 6 to 12 years. This is an elegant 1er cru, revealing the quality of Rully's northern Chardonnay parcels.

The nose opens with a dense perfume of ripe citrus and fresh flowers, typical of Chardonnay. There's a welcome minerality and discreet woodiness. The intensity of these scents increases as the wine aerates.

The palate is marked by a clean, chiselled attack, full of freshness and linear tension. The rather light texture is enriched by fine acidity and ripe-fruit aromatic intensity. A fine mineral structure that will develop over time. Beautiful bitters reminiscent of ageing prolong the sapid finish. A sensation of balance between fine minerality and gourmet substance. A well-balanced wine with a Puligny-Montrachet signature.
