Domaine Élodie Roy 's Maranges Le Goty is a pure reflection of the finesse of the Côte de Beaune. From a small parcel in the Le Goty climat near Maranges, the Pinot Noir vines benefit from southeast exposure on the hillside, just below the 1er Crus terroirs, on rich, draining clay-limestone soils. Elodie Roy applies integrated viticulture, with tillage, natural grassing and entirely manual harvesting to guarantee intact fruit and perfect ripeness. For this cuvée, the winemaking process combines whole-bunches and destemmed grapes. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, 40% of which are new, with no added yeast or inputs, to preserve the natural expression of Pinot Noir.
Philippe Mischler sommelier at Mundovin : Domaine Élodie Roy 's Maranges Le Goty perfectly illustrates the assertive style of this talented young winemaker, combining precision, elegance and purity of fruit. On this Côte de Beaune terroir, the wine expresses a finesse and energy rare in Burgundy, with a tannic structure that supports vibrant fruit. Although modest in size, Elodie Roy's plot-based cru is racy and precise, offering a fine introduction to the still little-known terroirs of Maranges.
The nose delicately expresses the freshness of black and red fruits. Blackcurrant, black cherry and raspberry combine with peppery and licorice nuances, while hints of mild spiciness recall the typicity of Burgundy Pinot Noir.
The palate charms with its juicy, gourmet dimension, balanced by a finely tannic structure. Aromas of small berries and spices vibrate on the palate, while the finish reveals a persistent peppery nuance, nourished by a mineral freshness that prolongs the pleasure with finesse and energy.
