On a limestone-clay terroir typical of the Côte Chalonnaise, Domaine François Lumpp 's Givry 1er Cru Clos Jus reveals a Pinot Noir that's straightforward and deep. Clos Jus is a small hillside facing South and South-West, whose limestone and red clay soils shape this particularly successful cuvée. Domaine François Lumpp cultivates this vineyard using tried-and-tested methods: careful tillage of the soil, hand harvesting and careful sorting. Natural fermentation aims for authenticity, and 12 months' ageing in mostly new barrels adds flesh while respecting the tension of the terroir.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Domaine François Lumpp 's Givry 1er Cru Clos Jus illustrates the stylistic coherence of a name renowned in Burgundy for the precision and depth of its cuvées. The fine woodiness of controlled ageing supports the tension of the terroir. This 1er Cru emanates the energy of the Côte Chalonnaise.

The nose is expressive, revealing intense aromas of blueberry and black cherry compote, accompanied by licorice notes and tertiary aromas evoking leather, bitter cocoa and undergrowth.

The palate is harmonious, full-bodied and silky. Fine tannins delicately structure ripe, evolved aromas of cooked black fruit, sweet spices and black truffle. The balance between the concentration of the juices and the freshness of the terroir give the wine a sensual character and sapid persistence.
