Robert-Denogent’s Saint-Véran Les Pommards is a must-try from the wine estate, known for its complexity and richness. In 1988, Jean-Jacques Robert took over his grandfather’s five hectares of vineyards in the Mâconnais region, just outside Fuissé, before his sons Nicolas and Antoine took over. The vines, which are over fifty years old, are planted on clay-limestone soil and naturally produce very low yields.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Robert-Denogent’s Saint-Véran Les Pommards is an infinitely pure and generous expression of the appellation. At a fraction of the price of a Meursault or a Puligny-Montrachet—to which it is often compared—it offers impressive richness and complexity.

The nose opens with sweet mandarin, lime leaf, and a hint of spice. Notes of peach, apricot, toasted nuts, and dried fruit evolve with aeration into a buttery touch that adds further complexity.

The palate is creamy and generous, interwoven with a stony, dry minerality that adds tension. Lingering acidity underpins the whole, while a full-bodied finish prolongs the pleasure well beyond the last sip.
