From the Le Bois des Châtaigniers vineyard in Festigny, in the Marne Valley, comes the Les Châtaigniers Extra Brut cuvée from Champagne R Pouillon & Fils. On these Lutetian clay-limestone soils, Pinot Meunier reveals all its complexity, in an assertive parcel-based spirit.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Often underestimated, Pinot Meunier is here sublimated by Fabrice Pouillon 's visionary approach (his famous MFP), and displays a depth and warm gourmandise that we don't always suspect it has.
The nose is enveloping and charming, unfurling suave notes of ripe red berries, baked apple and sweet spices right from the opening.
On the palate, the round, cuddly texture is supported by a lively body and remarkably fine bubbles, leading to a comfortingly long finish.
