Wine Description

Pic Saint Loup Les Glorieuses is the grand cuvée of the Clos Marie wine estate. It is one of the greatest Languedoc wines ever produced.

Christophe Peyrus and Françoise Julien, the estate's two winemakers, strive to produce wines that best reflect their superb terroir, using the most environmentally-friendly methods.

Since setting up in 1995, they have constantly improved their vineyard management and winemaking techniques. Today, this cuvée Les Glorieuses is world-renowned and ranks with the finest wines of France. It's a wine with a pure, almost Burgundian style, made from a blend of equal parts of very old Grenache and Syrah vines.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The Clos Marie cuvée Les Glorieuses is a Pic Saint Loup of unique dimension. It is characterized by great finesse, fine tannins and a racy body. Christophe Peyrus created this cuvée to show just how under-exploited the potential of Languedoc wines really is.

On the nose, notes of blackcurrant, raspberry syrup and beautiful scents of garrigue are captivating. After 2 to 3 hours decanting, floral notes emerge, along with hints of violets and lavender. On the palate, the wine is juicy and full-bodied. You can feel the sunny terroir , but the wine is fresh and so are the tannins. The acidity is straightforward and present throughout. In its youth, the wine is still a little powerful, but with time, the Grenache "pinotes" and the Syrah add lovely smoky touches.
