Wine Description

Domaine De Montille 's Pommard 1er cru Les Rugiens is a wine produced in the purest style of the wine estate, with the aim of expressing the terroir in the best possible way, without the use of chemical fertilizers or inputs. Naturally, this means working hard in the vines to ensure that the grapes are as healthy as possible. During ageing, this Pommard is not sulfited, and is aged in the purest Burgundian tradition, in barrels of several wines.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Pommard 1er cru Rugiens is a wine of remarkable density, depth and aromatic complexity. It stands out for its fine body and racy profile, typical of Pommard. Still, it's a wine that needs more time to fully assert itself. I advise you to cellar it for at least 7 years, so that the wine reaches full maturity and you can enjoy its full potential.

On the nose, the wine expresses concentrated aromas of black cherry and blackcurrant, enhanced by empyreumatic notes reminiscent of tobacco. This wine requires 2 hours decanting to reveal its complex aromatic bouquet.

Dense, greedy and very juicy on the palate, the wine reveals spicy notes, with hints of animal and undergrowth. The tannins are well integrated, offering a fleshy structure. The finish features a smoky touch that brings length and freshness to this Pommard 1er cru Les Rugiens. An ideal wine to pair with game of character.
