Wine Description

Domaine De Montille's Volnay Les Mitans is a 1er cru from a parcel ideally situated mid-slope, facing due east, in the heart of the Volnay appellation. The complexity of the soils is the hallmark of this wine, from the limestone agglomerates at the top, to the clays at the bottom, to the bedrock outcrop in the center of the plot. The main characteristic of this Volnay 1er cru is its complex, graceful profile.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The De Montille wine estate has done an exceptional job of precision on this cuvée, revealing the particular profile of this parcel. This is a very fine 1er cru, remarkable for its depth and finesse.

On the nose, the initial bouquet is greedy. Fresh, tangy red berries blend elegantly with floral scents of peony. After oxygenation, a more concentrated structure emerges, with black cherry, undergrowth and minerality. This Volnay will gain in balance with age. We recommend keeping this wine for at least 4 years before drinking.

Fine, elegant acidity on the palate. Supple tannins give body to red and black fruit aromas. Delicately smoky spice notes give this wine a beautiful smoothness. The delicious persistence of the finish invites you to come back for more. Complexity and refinement are the hallmarks of this promising young Volnay.
