Wine Description

The Morgon Corcelette from Domaine Louis-Claude Desvignes is made from Gamay grapes grown in vineyards adjacent to those of the wine estate. Although purchasing grapes is a first for this eight-generation-old estate, the vines are nonetheless tended with the same high standards as the family’s own plots. On the western edge of the Corcelette vineyard, the pink granite and sandy soils are particularly conducive to the deep root systems of the half-century-old vines. The winemaking process is identical across the entire range: semi-carbonic maceration in open concrete tanks, with the cap submerged for about two weeks. Here, the wine estate’s approach prioritizes the subtle expression of the specific vineyard sites, the right balance for each vintage, and refined ageing without oak.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: The Morgon Corcelette from Domaine Louis-Claude Desvignes is a delightful cuvée, highly representative of the climat from which it comes. Claude-Emmanuelle and Louis-Benoît Desvignes are among those winemakers whose every wine evokes a special emotion, far removed from dogma.

The nose is more expressive and lively than the wine estate’s other cuvées, with vibrant notes of wild berries and red fruits that emerge as soon as you bring the glass to your nose.

On the palate, the tannins are supple, and the delicate, perfectly balanced acidity lends this Morgon a delightful liveliness. A hint of graphite blends with the generous fruitiness on a finish of very pleasing length.
